The Thumb of Justice

Opinion By Patricia L Johnson and Richard E Walrath

How far will the scales tip for Donald J. Trump in the name of Justice?

Republican Donald John Trump became the 45th President of the United States on January 20, 2017 after receiving 304 electoral votes in the November 8, 2016 election against Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 227 electoral votes.

Trump actually won the election with only 46.1 percent [62,984,828] of the popular vote compared to Clinton’s 48.2% percent [65,853,514].

Is there really any chance for this former President, who only won 46.1 percent of the popular vote in the 2016 Presidential election to win another term in office?

It seems unlikely due to the fact he attempted, and succeeded in stealing the 2016 Presidential race from Hillary Rodham Clinton by  spreading viscous misinformation about her for years.  He also attempted to steal the 2020 Presidential race from Joseph R. Biden, but failed and lost by an even bigger margin of votes.

Prior to the 2016 election Trump and his Republican allies did everything humanly possible to make the public believe that Hillary Rodham Clinton was guilty of numerous crimes, could not be trusted and should actually be placed in jail.

The following lies and conspiracy theories against Clinton were spread over and over again by the opposing party until many in America believed what have since been proven as lies or falsehoods.

  • Benghazi “Stand Down” Order.
  • Clinton’s Health
  • Uranium One Deal
  • Emails
  • Pizzagate
  • Clinton Body Count

What’s interesting is the fact that while Trump was President of the U.S. and in charge of all the departments that had the power to find Clinton guilty of crimes, no charges against her were ever levied.

In fact, Trump’s Department of Justice, Office of the  Inspector General, issued a 568-page report in June of 2018 (18 months after Trump became President) covering some of the false allegations made against Clinton and found in her favor.

We ended up with years and years of false allegations against Clinton with no charges, yet the person who continually spread the majority of falsehoods is currently facing an unprecedented 91 felony charges for wrongdoing.  In all fairness we must remember, former President Trump, along with the others indicted are innocent of all crimes until proven guilty.

However, we must also take into consideration that many of those in Trump’s inner circle have already been indicted, found guilty, and/or entered into plea deals for numerous charges, including in alphabetical order:  Steve Bannon, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Rick Gates, Rudy Giuliani, Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, Roger Stone and Allen Weisselberg.

And it’s only the beginning of the trials on the 91 felony counts against the former president
